Educational Needs Addressed
There are various gaps in researchers’ knowledge of federal regulations and institutional policy. Most physician-researchers were not formally trained in clinical research, and many have not taken advantage of other educational opportunities. To address this, BUMC now requires investigator certification and recertification. Recertification is accomplished through the Clinical Research Times. The researcher is required to read the feature article each month, take the associated quiz, and achieve a score of 75%. Recertification must be accomplished every two years. The most recent deadline for recertification was June 30, 2005, and the next is June 30, 2007. (Top)

Program Learning Objectives

  • state the current interpretations of the federal research regulations and local BUMC policies;
