Prevention Council of Central Ohio

The Prevention Council of Central Ohio adopted a resolution in January 2004 in support of the recommendations on monitoring and limiting alcohol advertising made by the National Research Council and Institute of Medicine report, "Reducing Underage Drinking: A Collective Responsibility." The Council referred in its resolution to statistics on the annual social cost of underage drinking and to CAMY findings on youth exposure to television alcohol advertising in Ohio.

June 2003: Cleveland, OH
Alcohol & Drug Addiction Services Board of Cuyahoga County

In June 2003, the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board of Cuyahoga County adopted a resolution petitioning the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Congress to take steps to examine underage youth exposure to alcohol marketing. The Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board, which plans, monitors, and evaluates alcohol and drug services, referred in its resolution to Ohio data on alcohol advertising on television as well as to other research findings. February 2003: Fairfield, OH
Fairfield County Board of Commissioners

In February 2003, the board of commissioners in Fairfield County, Ohio adopted a resolution to urge the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Congress to examine youth exposure to alcohol marketing. In this resolution, the county board outlined the troubling facts they had learned about youth exposure to alcohol advertising and declared alcohol industry self-regulation and current voluntary guidelines "do not provide effective deterrence or guidance to alcohol producers."
