Public Health Association

The Tennessee Public Health Association adopted a resolution urging its U.S. senators, Senator Lamar Alexander and Senator Bill Frist, to take action on the issue of youth exposure to alcohol industry marketing. In its resolution, the Tennessee Public Health Association referred to a number of statistics on youth exposure to alcohol advertising and on the prevalence of and problems caused by underage drinking in Tennessee. The Association asked Senator Alexander to hold a subcommittee hearing on alcohol marketing and requested that Senator Frist ask the Federal Trade Commission to review current policies on advertising alcoholic beverages.
